As much as they are a cowardly act, king hits have always been around. I get the feeling that with the media the way it is, we are more aware of it happening. Maybe there are a lot more, I don't know. There seems to be more, but i am not sure if it is substantially more.

However, one thing that is a lot more common than the past is glassing. That has become a common occurrence, especially in Sydney.

Also, kicking or stomping on a person's head. IN my teens and 20's, when a bloke hit the ground in a fight, that was it. If he got up, then it was on again. Nowadays, stomping and kicking someone in the head while they are down just seems all too common. And i can't believe that anyone who kicks or stomps someone in the head doesn't realise they have the potential to kill.

At the risk of sounding like my father, I just think the younger generation are a bit clueless as far as actions = consequences. I think there is a touch of entitlement amongst younger people today and general lack of respect. I suppose every generation says the next generation lacks respect, but I have clearly noticed it. I have also found that the younger generation lack ownership and are often blameless.

I think the majority of kids are brought up differently than the past. In my generation, if the teacher sent you to the office, your old man would boot me up the arse. Nowadays, if a kid gets sent to the office, a lot of parents will complain to the principal that their kid is being unfairly treated. I don't think younger people fear authority as much as the past. Christ, i used to sh%% myself if i ever encountered a policeman.

As Plough said, there seems to be less tolerance or the younger generation seem to be more evil.

All i know is that when i used to go out to pubs and clubs, not for one moment did i ever fear getting knifed, glassed or stomped (if i got into a fight). King hitting did occur but it didn't seem that common.
