    RB, you are assuming there is enough gold to satisfy retail AND central bank repatriation demand. If they tell the Germans to wait they can leave the reasons unclear, no matter what they have to keep supplying retail or the run on gold will begin. They cannot supply BOTH banks and retail because there is a shortage
