You said the above as if you were implying that the English are somehow much more in tune with racism.
DS, I don't care how long I am away from Australia, i will always be 100% Australian and proud of my country. But, one thing that really irks me about Australia now is political correctness. As much as we have good discussions, it is the very thing that you do that is what irks me the most.
You chastise people for using the wrong terms. You police and misconstrue what people say. You take the moral high ground and you make people feel bad. You use labels like intolerant if you disagree with peoples views. You throw out the racist card so easily to give yourself defense. It's people like you who try to create fear if someone chooses to give their opinion. You are quick to label someone insensitive, intolerant or racist if they differ with your opinion.
Intolerant and racist are terrible terms, but people like yourself freely throw them at people.
I posted the following on my facebook recently, "the behaviour of the man hiding behind his religion, not standing before a judge, participating in violent riots and calling a female policewoman f....ing filth is disgusting and should not be tolerated by anyone in society".
Because of the above post, i had someone post that I am racist and intolerant on my FB. So, how does that make me feel when all of my Asian friends see that? ON top of that I have several aboriginal and a lot of fijian friends on fb and other nationalities. YOu see what i mean???? It is so easy for people like you to call people racist or intolerant. And it is a very hurtful and damaging term. BUT, people use it to restrict people from having the freedom to express their opinion.
I know you mean well, and we have some good discussions, but people deserve the same freedom of speech that you are afforded without always being labeled intolerant.
