You have never heard of a derogatory white comment?
"Pom", "white trash", "Blonde bimbo" (blondes are white), "Redneck", "a Nazi", "skippy"
Maybe, just maybe, white people have a thicker skin.
Derogatory terms are how you interpret them or how you handle them. Only a few decades ago it was totally acceptable and common to call and African American, an African Negro. But, as you reminded me last week DS, you can't say that. WHY????????? Because it suddenly became offensive for African American, whereas they even referred to themselves in that way. So, what did we do? WE changed the word to "coloured" so it wouldn't offend. But, people like yourself, thought that was Politically incorrect, so now we are all bloody confused.
Bloody hell, "WOG" means "western oriental gentleman". How on earth did that become so "derogatory".
A derogatory term is how someone takes it. You say it is fine to call a person "wingnut" if he has big ears, "chimp" if he looks like a chimp. That is fine.
Well, black people sometimes look like Apes or monkeys. No discrimination intended, they bloody do!!!!!
So, maybe us white people are a little less sensitive than others. Otherwise, we would have outlawed, "redneck" and "pom", or "skippy" years ago.
You remember when the middle eastern gang rapes occurred in the early 2000's when they were trying to pick up a skippy.
But, we must have thicker skin because we don't find that derogatory, nor do we find the need to ban the word "redneck" or "pom". But, coloured or a monkey is derogatory.
Which term is frowned upon by society? "POM" = Prisoner of Her Majesty or "WOG" = Western oriental Gentleman.
I just think everyone is getting a little precious.
