    Tibsy,

"The world does not have to buy from Australia. there are cheaper alternatives emerging."

There are no issues with actually buying from Australia. It's the cost of labour that the oil companies are whinging about.

However, one must bear in mind that they're running a business and they too, want to make as much as it's possible to make. W.A. government requires 15% of gas produced within its legal boundaries to be sequestered for the local WA market. The oil companies are spewing about having to do it because they can make bigger dollars selling offshore.

This legislation was put in place because those very same whinging oil companies refused to guarantee supply to the state where they're getting the gas. Then they have the gall to complain about high wages?? The trouble with these not so good corporate citizens is that they want their cake and eat it as well.

Why do you think tens of billions is being spent developing wheatstone? Because the minister told Chevron to get it started or lose the leases. You need to remember you're dealing with completely ruthless companies who will try every trick in the book to make one more dollar.

Let me tell you, it's no picnic working for these people and some of the comparisons they put out are laughable.

The people buying the gas don't care where it comes from, it's the price that counts and we are very close to China, India etc.
