The whole lot of the issue is based solely on what a Government of the day wants to do and is willing to push through and down our necks, via Government legislations. And there is nothing that anyone of us can do until the next round of elections.
By that time though, thing might be too late and the damage is all done and buried, and more than likely forgotten by everyone. Just the same of when Howard sold everything that he could lay his hands on, and finished up with the selling of even the last lot of Telstra that we, as citizens owned.

People forgot that didn't they? Just the same that they forgot that famous GST that we were never going to have. A few years down the track, and it is all gone and forgotten.

Now, if we were to follow the rules of the place (Country) that I was born and bred in, we, as citizens would have a final say in the matter. And that is through a CIR (Citizens Initiated Referendum), where 10% of the people could force the Government, by signing a petition, to call for a referendum. In that referendum if 50% plus one vote will vote in favour of the legislation (What BoF just did for example), then that legislation will stand. But, if 50% plus one vote will vote against that legislation, then the Government (in this case BoF) will have to repeal that legislation as it would become null and void.

I have tried for several years to talk to some politicians about having the same thing here because it would be as Democratic as it could be, but I've got nowhere. Their response was that, if we didn't like what they were doing, we could kick them out at the next election. That's Party Politics at play in full force.

To me, that was laughable at best and I 've told them that, in three years time, that damage could have been too big to revert and that, more than likely, that decision would stay unchanged for ever and ever.

Now we have to bear the consequences of what BoF has pushed down our throats. Not nice, but do you all think that he will change his stance.??

I think that you will have a better chance of seeing fat pigs flying around with rockets attached to their feet.
If we had that CIR though, we could at least force him to listen to what many of us have to say.

Now to MEL. I was one of the biggest promoters of MEL for a long time and believed 100% in their story. Unfortunately now I am as disappointed as many others here, and my sentiment is totally zero. And I am facing huge losses as a result of it all.

But, I have to add that I am not of the belief that the blame is based 100% on what BoF did.
Once again, I repeat what I have said before. And that is, that the rules clearly stated IMO, that any Licence that was previously issued would stand, and that where we were not less than 2 Km. from certain exclusion zones, those rules didn't apply.

We already had licences in place and IMHO some our tenements were more than 2Km away from the exclusions zones.

So, why did you pulled up stamps and went home.??
Something, IMHO, is not right, and I am of the belief that our company is well overdue to tell us as all what is going on.

    Good luck all.
