No "responsible" person. gov, science, academic, or other is going to publicly facepalm themselves and say "I was so stoopid, what was I thinking?", no, they will do it exactly the way they are doing it now. Just human nature at work.
Some more courageous types like James Lovelock will do a mea culpa, but that is probably because mortality is closing in on him and he'd like to be remembered for his integrity rather than for being a dupe.
