" the core of all religions is the same, as is that of the spiritual. It is known as the 'Perennial Philosophy'. "

There was an excellent website years ago (since gone to god lol) called "Mysticism in World Religions" and it compared core ideas from Christianity, Judaism,Islam(Sufi), Buddhism, Hinduism, and Taoism.
These various ideas were along the lines of (from memory, it's been awhile), death of the ego, surrender, the ineffability of god/ultimate reality, the trancendance of duality, faith in providence, etc
Was very interesting and it was surprising how close the notions were across widely dispersed times, places and cultures.

As to an esoteric aspect as opposed the exoteric there is an interesting passage

Matthew 13.10 And the disciples came, and said to him, Why speak you to them in parables? 11 He answered and said to them, Because it is given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. 12 For whoever has, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whoever has not, from him shall be taken away even that he has. …

I have asked christians if they have a clue as to what this means and haven't had an answer.Seems like many christians don't have the secrets to the kingdom of heaven that were given to the disciples...

    cheers
