    mistyrains,

I know I shouldn't be surprised. It's just so different from the HotCopper I knew. I joined way back, a migrant from OzeStock - and all through the years, other than the odd nutjob here and there, people were mainly sensible. You always think proud racists are so fringe, you don't expect them to dominate discussion. I hope this isn't an indication of the way Australia is heading.

    sypaladin,

I apologise - have re-read that part and it was the woman who crashed into another's car, rather than the other way around.

Thank goodness for that then, for a moment I thought people here actually supported running cars into Muslims. Either way, there's no need for uncivil actions like ripping off someone's head dress.

I am still worried that the diggers in question are being supported by HC'ites here, rather than being censured.

The article states that an officer posted a message regarding Muslims, writing "Kill 'em all". There is no way such a sentiment - ostensibly not directed at hostile Muslims but Muslims in general - can be appropriate.

As for other posters citing the Woolwich murders, that was exactly why race hate sentiments are inappropriate. If you go out and kill a Muslim just because they're Muslim, you're doing exactly the same thing the Woolwich murderers did. You're as vile and as much of a scum as they are, and I happen to think they are the lowest form of scum in modern society.

If you believe the murder of that soldier was evil and abhorrent, and you do exactly what they did, it doesn't make it any less evil and abhorrent.

It's sick how people are proud of racist sentiments like the one expressed by that army officer in the news article. No better than those extremist Muslims who gloated over the killing of the soldier in Woolwich. Sometimes I wish we can kick out ALL people who shared those kinds of sentiments, regardless of whether they're white or Muslim. But I hold hope that through understanding we can maybe, perhaps, correct these attitudes.
