The leader of the National Party, Warren Truss, did not know Opposition Leader Tony Abbott had committed the opposition to supporting the government's attempt to boost party funding until the government released a letter bearing Mr Abbott's signature.
A package of reforms to political financing fell over last week after Mr Abbott pulled out of a deal negotiated between the Labor and Liberal parties citing the public's unhappiness with the proposed changes.
