Does anyone recall in the mid 1990's when cable tv was being rolled out in Melbourne by Foxtel/Telecom how they layed the cables underground. Whole streets were dug up (Optus put the cables overhead).
I wonder if this work involved similar procedures to that of the NBN rollout ie. laying cables through the pits and pipes.
When work was done in my street there was no safety protocols other than a sign warning you not to fall in the big hole.
