A mate went to Vietnam last year and raved about it, as have others I've spoken to

He also recommended Burma, which is now opening up to outsiders.

The public infrastructure in Burma is primitive though, compared to Thailand and Vietnam.

It's just about impossible to get a decent hotel room in Rangoon these days, from what I've read in the media re: tourists.

Might be worth a look now IMO, before it becomes too Westernised and commercial.
