Well I profoundly hope Duhat is successful and they get it on-stream before the usual Filipino greenies...sharks..clergy...scam artists at every level of government...start casting, sinking the hook, and reeling OEL in. Leyte is far enough from Manila, and relatively undeveloped - and certainly a third-world fiefdom where OEL will have to be on their toes, don't stuff-up, and even then - be prepared for the locals to financially attack. It's the way of the islands....100 pesos now is better than a thousand pesos next week. Having minority Filipino partners may help, but the risk level in this country of projects going pear-shaped and then going under - is huge. Filipinos are their own worst enemy. And Otto could easily be rogered....happens every day in paradise. I suggest Otto start buying local politicians, judges, baranagay captains etc..pigs. Judges rate the most pigs...barangay captains happy with one or two...Enough pigs for well placed fiestas, and strategic opportunities, and everyone is happy....
I'm here for SC55 and improved production from Galoc....Duhat is a sideshow....but hope it works - and not an expensive lesson on how hard it is to succeeed in the Philippines....I've had quite wealthy relatives tell me...Never, ever, do business in the Philippines...
