I agree. The company provided quite detailed guidance to analysts at its March 2013 analysts' visit that, by continuing to refine the product (i.e. keeping it in the plant for more than the standard 44 days), LYC can create even more premium-end product that sells for a higher price. This was well flagged in the analyst reports at the time (see Goldman's report of 21 March, page 8 for details - sorry I can't post a link as it is behind a firewall).
If I had to bet , my guess is that this is one of the things that is happening here - Lynas is reducing its throughput to produce smaller amounts of higher grade product. Just my opinion.
