I'd have to agree with you re the TV, I haven't given up, still like the news, current affairs, doco's, never have been into the other stuff on the commercial stations, don't have Sky either, just free to air. I really like to listen to a few radio (steaming) stations back in Australia while I catch up with the news on my laptop.
Grew up with my ear to the radio (Astor Mickey) and ear plug in my ear listening on my "rocket" crystal set, tuned in by using a probe coming from the nose.
Didn't get TV until 1960 in Tasmania.
