Hi Akq,

To be honest I think if they do really want to go ahead with this project that it will be along time in the making,
They have not long to go before they fill the existing mine with waste fill, I get a shock each time I go past there as to how quick it has filled,

You maybe aware that the council has just recently signed a moratorium on the csg which I know is different to the actual mining of coal but it all revolves around the same stuff COAL, In saying that there is also new members of council now who are well and truely against, a couple of the old members may of been able to be talked around,
(Council elections were not that long ago with new members elected)

There hasnt been a whole lot of talk around town about the coal mine issue as I think many people believe it will not go ahead just because of the amount of work that would have to be done,
Not sure if you have seen the existing mine or not but that is 1 massive hole, ( getting filled very quickly as I said)
So to get 1.6b tonnes out with all that overburden I would hate to see the size it will need to be,
I know a few of the Quit Coal advocates from Bacchus Marsh, (not personnally) They are a very smart bunch and a couple of them know the ins and outs of the law system. (I know this from people I have talked to) So they will draw this out in a big way I think,
The lady Mrs Tubbs, yes I know you would of heard of her, she wont lay down, trust me when I say that. She will fight this to the bitter end, she is very popular in town aswell,
so it wouldnt take her much to drum up alot of support if needed.
To be honest mate I cant see it happening in the next 5 years if LV is meant to be the next pilbura, There is just so much work here to do before MNM even get to even see the coal,
And we all know how our govt. handle things these days, A days work normally takes them 1 month so you can see where I am coming from with this drawn out process,
All in my opinion of course which everyone is entitled to, not trying to downramp or anything like that, just another perspective I think that could help you guys out
