macmac, I do not doubt that what you post is your honest opinion, which is more than I can say about some posters who post pessimistic comments during the CR period and then apply for additional shares. However that does not change make them any more factual, in fact the are untrue, which is probably why some holders are annoyed. Gauging by the number of thumbs it seems some investors observing this space are quite gullible preferring a good yarn rather than truth.
Lets start at the beginning.
"As for the rubbish being dumped there, EPA are all over it, with very strict regulations in the way it is filled and soon enough will not be seen, but I do see the same concerns as you on the water table side of things."
The EPA are all over it, but are still allowing it to go ahead. So why has the tip and the basalt quarry not been closed already?
"Strip mining you say, do you know for fact or are you guessing as I don't believe there is a plan for the mine, and from what I have read, what is it between 40-90m of dirt before coal is that right?
That would still be a decent size hole in anyone's language."
By the sound of it you are believing the false hype being peddled by Ms Tubbs, I prefer to obtain information from sources that are required to be honest. This has come from a radio interview that Ian did a few years ago. Listen here:
http://theballaratindependent.com.au/news/article/our-neighbour-the-coal-mine-bacchus-marsh
The overburden varies over the project, it is quite thin and very soft close to the existing mine opening, also the overburden is replaced, so the material missing the coal would form the cavity. As you say the area is quite hilly, so the landscape can be shaped accordingly. The land could result in a nice flat piece of land with a beautiful marshland which could be home to Australian flora and fauna. They could even fix the irreversible damage done to the area by land clearing and erosion caused by centuries of abuse of the land by farmers.
"Now you say Ms Tubbs knew there was coal on her land, just wondering how's she would know if she didn't own a drill rig?? If she knew why did mnm need to drill so many holes, why didn't they just ask her ;)
I know you will say to get depth and quality, I'm just say she has owned that land for a very long time there is a chance she wouldn't have known, seems she lives a couple of Kms away from the mine one would have the right to assume that there was nothing there."
You have the right to assume anything you want, but in this case you would be dead wrong. She said she knew there was coal under her property in an interview with Melbourne radio. If I have time I will post it for you so you can hear it for yourself.
As she knew there was coal under the property the land would have been sold at a vast discount to make up for the risk of potential mining, now she does not want the mining and is making up false stories to try to stop it for financial gain. Around here we call that ramping. Ms Tubbs is a ramper...
"Look mate I know you are very passionate about this stock, but you shouldn't fall in love with a stock, you seem a bit emotional about it any time someone disagrees with you or brings up info that doesn't suit your agenda"
You can bring all the false info you want to to the table and I will bring the factual info to refute it.
"If govt was really worried about employment like you say vert and the manufacturing they wouldnt be allowing all our big retaillers such as Kmart and the likes to have all their garments made in Bangladesh. They would be trying their hardest to make it an economic option here."
That is not how free markets work.
"Fakey what Im saying about the smoke and mirrors if you read my post properly is that Govt arent too worried about the employment, I know all about the people in Geelong as I have many of them that are friends that have lost their job
so your not telling me anything new there champ,"
The government of the day never plays up the fact that the economy is going down the gurgler on their watch. They make plans to reverse the trend, hence the Parliamentary Inquiry into increasing mining investment in the State, the ALDP etc.
"BR that site you refer to as a tip will soon no longer be one,
but the new mine you refer to will be there for 50+ years"
Wrong the mine life is half that at 25 years. Prone to exaggeration?
"Tell me BR what is stopping them from dredging Geelong??
The info came from the port master at Geelong and my mate in Sydney is in shipping he said he heard the same thing,"
At last some info that is useful. My understanding is that the BM proposal has small ships for transport until upgrades are complete (including the proposed dredging?). If they are looking at port upgrades at Geelong at this early stage, that give large importance to the BM project as the LV would not use that port.
