Cocoman, I don't believe that anything we do will do anything much to help reduce global co2. Australia is simply too small and we contribute around 1% of the global emissions pie.
I don't see anything great about either carbon tax or direct action. I suspect direct action is simply to apease libs that are still conned (imo) that we should be doing something.
But even if we reduce emissions by 5% - that's 5% of our 1% so is it really worth the expense while China and other countries are doing the most?
And, there are some highly qualified scientists out there who are not convinced that co2 is the enemy. It seems to be more a political excuse to tax us more.
I don't know that too many here feel that we should be hurting our economy to fix something that is not likely to be of much use.
Don't get me wrong. I care about our environment and all for recycling and caring for our planet. But when politicians get hold of something like this, it seems to be more about the money they can grab and little to do with the environment.
Here is a pie chart of co2 emissions. The tiny blue slither is Australia. Now take 5% off that - it's not worth risking our economy, jobs and our finances for something that can do so very little, if at all, imo.
