My uncle has been working since the age of 16. He finally decided to retire at 67 after 51 years of working and paying taxes. He had never been into a centrelink office before. He walked into his local one to ask if he could apply for a part pension as a supplement to his superannuation pension. He was treated like a criminal. The lady behind the ocunter said he was wasting her time as he had too much money in super (200,000 mind you) that he would never get anything and her exact word were "don't be greedy". He walked out kicking himself for all the taxes he has paid. Being single with no children he never got any benefits. He said if he could turn back time he would be a dole bludger as he would be treated with more dignity in that case.
