Welfare should only be used for bare necessities to help you survive. It is not meant to give you a comfortable living standard because if it did, what incentive would some people have to work harder to get off welfare.

I remember reading an article once about a mother complaining that her welfare payments had been cut and how she would now struggle to buy her kids Christmas presents!!

I think a lot of people can no longer tell the difference between 'NEEDS' and 'WANTS'

Eg. Cigarettes and alcohol are definitely NOT NECESSITIES and if you cut that out from your budget i'm sure people's finances will look a whole lot better.

If nothing changes soon, Australia's welfare system will start to crumble as the ageing population continues to increase and more and more people start losing their jobs.
