Still don't quite get your point.
I think it's all about the timing of buying and selling.
Shorting - Selling shares that you don't own (because you think they are overvalued) which creates extra supply (the actual holder is still long). Then covering to return the shares at a lower price, creating extra demand.
Creating extra supply and demand when the shorter wants it not the actual holder.
I have never complained about shorting. It's just a part of the framework i have to invest with.
