    DDZX,
"As for the passage, it is: "Just as a dog bound by a leash tied to a firm post or pillar keeps on running and circling around that some post or pillar; so too, these good recluses and brahmins, through fear of identity and disgust with identity, keep running and circling around that same identity."

Thanks for that, I'll chase it up as time permits though at first glance it doesn't seem to fit the context "Buddha, who was enlightened, explained being stuck in the delusion of non-existence, i.e., attempting to abide without labelling things, is like a dog chasing its own tail".. Maybe I misunderstood?

"Provide some Christian verses that encourage the same regard towards all beings."

Here's just a few that come to mind. There's probably more but you get the point?

    Ephesians 5:25 - Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

2 Corinthians 8:13 - For [I mean] not that other men be eased, and ye burdened:

Proverbs 30:4 - Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what [is] his name, and what [is] his son's name, if thou canst tell?

Deuteronomy 10:17 - For the LORD your God [is] God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward:

Acts 3:12-25 - And when Peter saw [it], he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk? (Read More...)

Colossians 3:11 - Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond [nor] free: but Christ [is] all, and in all.

John 13:34 - A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

Proverbs 22:2-The rich and the poor meet together; the Lord is the maker of them all.

Colossians 1:16-17 -For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

    etc etc

"I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you and with every living creature that was with you-the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you-every living creature on earth." (Genesis 9:9-10)

"In that day I will make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field and the birds of the air and the creatures that move along the ground. Bow and sword and battle I will abolish from the land, so that all may lie down in safety." (Hosea 2:18)

"Six days you shall do your work, but on the seventh day you shall rest, so that your ox and your donkey may have relief." (Exodus 23:12; cf. Deuteronomy 5:14)

"You shall not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain." (Deuteronomy 25:4)

"If you besiege a town for a long time, making war against it in order to take it, you must not destroy its trees by wielding an ax against them. Although you may take food from them, you must not cut them down. Are trees in the field human beings that they should come under siege from you?" (Deuteronomy 20:19)

Proverbs 12:10 The righteous care for the needs of their animals, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel."

Proverbs 27:23 Know well the condition of your flocks, and give attention to your herds.

"Ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds of the air, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish of the sea inform you. Which of these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind." Job 12:7-10
