I would love to see Ed Cowan make some runs. Seems like a leader, a gritty, typical Aussie style batsman/personality. Not that it is part of the criteria, but with a few runs and more public exposure I could see the public really liking him.
Look what we have to choose from:
* Clarke - a nob and has clearly proven to be a divisive influence as a captain. Players don't have confidence in him and a big part of the blame for the culture.
* Warner - a Clark suck with a big opinion of himself. The public view him in a similar light to Clark. Will be under extreme pressure if he doesn't score runs and with his style, the swinging ball may be a problem.
* Watson - selfish and obviously not well liked by peers and many former players
* Hughes - lucky to retain his spot
* Wade - ditto
Wow! We don't have much in the way of leadership material. The selectors have a lot to answer for letting senior players retire and giving away spots in the team to prima donnas who haven't deserved it.
