good analogy with "the shop"
The problem for many of these little shops at the moment is the banks wont lend full stop does not matter how good the project is, so often it is going back to the market for cash which means a placement normally at a significat discount to the share price.
"SO WHO CARES" So I CARE hence just a token investment in case I can be part of a rights issue backed by a big player.
