re: News: Quickflix & AAPT announce new partn... Yep,
The interview sounded VERY positive.
I like the sound of being in LA and more content deals being consumated!
Langsford is full of surprises but it should be seen as no surprise he's on the front foot with announcements with the new Fin Yr starting Monday. The timing is perfect.
Interesting that "The Australian" (World According to Rupert) wanted to paint the deal as AAPT doing Quickflix some kind of a favour.
Give me a break! Business is Business and I'm sure both parties were negotiating with thier own comercial interests in mind.
It's worth remembering that "The Australian" is part of the same "Murdoch News" stable that owns half of Foxtel.
Judging by Langsfords comments in the US there has already been a big shift from cable TV to streaming. The same is about to happen in Australia, and Foxtel don't like it.
They were quite happy milking the Australian public for all they could before Quickflix came along!
If(when) the shift happens here Foxtel will be the looser... QFX the winner.
I'm not quite sure of Ruperts cable interests in the US....Fox Cable?
But I imagine he's already seen it happen once in the US.... with Netflix, Hulu and more.
Quickflix must be like Deja Vu for Rupert.
No wonder "The Australia"n made it sound like they are drowning.....the reality is quite the opposite!
