Pints, while we have private schools, union will always have its core following here. And will never lose support at the international level. However, it was interesting to see how low the crowds were at the Warratahs games this year. I only noticed because i was watching Izzy. Not long ago the Warratahs would virtually pack them out. I am not sure as to why the crowds were so low, but i am sure it is a concern for the ARU.
I think the AFL and soccer are the biggest threats to league and this is bound to have knock on effect to union. The player pool for union is not that large now, so it wouldn't be good for the game if it got smaller. Union has lost a lot of ground to league in the past few seasons.
