Lynas is a target for US interest overt or covert and their agents to secure the resources owned by the co - it's as simple as that.
Look what they can do to precious metals prices by flooding the market with paper contracts that are physically undeliverable - if they can do that to support the Greenback you can be fairly certain they'll find creative means to do a thorough hatchet job on any quoted company they want to roll...
