Many of us fall on a long spectrum of immigrant* acceptance/rejection.
I, for one, accept any culture, creed, religion BUT I resolutely refuse to embrace any peoples that teach their children to hate the host country, to depict the womenfolk of host country as nothing but slut playthings to abuse & discard, to regard anyone not of their religion as enemies to harm or kill.
In fact, ronsterm's views and mine, for the most part, are worlds apart, but I commend him for stating that the first thing to do is not to invade/occupy Islamic countries in the first place (I would add, GET THE HELL OFF FOSSIL FUELS reliance [thus, starving the fuel for this destructive & dysfunctional relationship between the US and Middle Eastern countries] - wishful thinking...will NEVER happen in my lifetime!). The enemy of my enemy is my friend - and in this case, we have a clear and present (common) enemy. Get out of their lands, don't give them even a skerrick of a reason. If they then step out of line, unleash hellfire on them.
RE: the birthrate. Anecdotal: I used to like going down to Darling Harbour (Sydney) to soak in the family atmosphere and enjoy the squealing kids (not in the Gary Glitter way! I have bouts of mild depression) but have stopped doing so; for every nuclear family (white, yellow, brown, black, whatever), you get a whole harem of Middle Eastern (I presume Lebanese) families with anywhere up to 8 children per unit. It wasn't the sheer numbers that disgusted me - it was that these feral kids were elbowing, pushing and bashing every other kid in sight while their 'parents' looked on proudly. These are not isolated incidents, they happen with clockwork regularity. I have never wanted to kick the living daylights out of kids so much. The Cronulla riots happened for racist reasons yes. It was racism from these ingrates to the locals: only scumbags and criminals attack the very people trying to help them - lifeguards, nurses, firefighters, paramedics (eg. the Macquarie Fields riots). Go down to Bondi, have a look at them planting the Lebanese flag, harrassing women and tourists, threatening lifeguards etc.
*Disclosure: I was born a non-Muslim in a Muslim country and thought I had landed in a near-Paradise in Oz. "Ahh...never again will I have to hear those *expletive* hypocritical prayer calls" and face casual & institutionalised discrimination. But increasingly, was I in for a culture shock as I witnessed shocking blatant (physical) disrespect of police; outright hostility to schoolteachers (with sexual harrassment of female teachers); unashamed and traitorous declarations of "I'm not *expletive* Aussie, I'm Lebanese/Turkish/Persian/(take your pick)" even though they were born here!; etc. by the same troublemaker group over and over. (Admittedly, I landed myself in the typical 'westie' suburb) I was submerged with these... beings, day in, day out for 3.5 years, make no mistake, they absolutely DETEST you and your way of life, a way of life they hypocritically feed off of when it suits them.
I wish, with all my heart, there were more moderate Muslims to temper these fanatics, but they are either too cowed by the intimidation, or are too few and far between the 'professional victims' to matter. Now, as I hear of more calls for exclusive-only swimming pools, more Islamic centres, more azans spreading out from Lakemba, I fear & rage for this paradise....
