I doubt that we'll get off fossil fuels anytime soon. As things are working out there may not be that much need to, with CSG, shale, coal, and other new developments. All that is irrelevant though as we(ie. the west)has no god given right to middle east oil the same as no one else has a god given right to aussie iron ore, bauxite, coal etc. It hardly needs to be spelled out.
This debate seems to devolve into two positions 1/ hate muslims and attack them in their countries and refuse them entry into ours, or 2/not attack them, attack own people as racists, bigots etc who suggest that the cultures are probably incompatible.These people see no reason to limit muslim immigration and bend over backwards to accommodate them despite the incompatibility of islam with many of this group's ideals ie.gender equality, gay rights,secular society etc.
We can see how those two positions are working out with untold number of attacks on the ME including drones, with the west spending itself into poverty partly on idiotic and immoral wars and more importantly wasting whatever moral capital we have accumulated.When people sneer at the mention of western values we will know we have spent it all and for nothing.
On the other hand we can see how muslim immigration has worked out for various European countries with no go areas, honour killings,sharia law recognised formally or informally in self contained self imposed ghettoes living off the stupid infidel taxpayer (held in contempt by the muslims), all the while increasing in numbers vis a vis the host population.
How about a third position that involves no hating, no killing(unless absolutely necessary), no wars, no muslim immigration therefore no adjustment required from locals,no future problems. Muslims can stay in their country and we get to keep ours.
