    This thread was finished after my first post:

    "A delet[e]rious mutation can persist in a population due to genetic linkage to an advantageous mutation."

    The original question was (to paraphrase): Why hasn't evolution weeded out homosexuality?

    And the answer is as above. It persists in the population because the behaviour is linked to an element that confers an advantage to the survival of the population.

    Case closed... someone give me a box of chocolates... I didn't get much out of receiving my PhD in Genetics... so I'll settle for a box of chocolates.
