Yup I do know what it will cost. And I would pay that as it would be useful for me given DSL in this area is so far away from the exchange that the max speed I can get is 4mbs. Its ok but after what I had in London it is pathetic. Having said that I am a very heavy user and not representative of my area or peer group. Fast broadband is a luxury and not a right which is essentially the difference between my libertarian thinking and the money is free when it is someone elses taxes crowd which sadly seems to dominate Australia these days.
The rubber is hitting the road and I can see the coalition model of the nbn scaled back to inner cities and trunk lines at best, australia just doesnt have the money left for luxuries after the gigantic spend a thon that Labor has had in the last six years. Essentials like roads need to be built now. Where has $320 billion gone?
