excelsior, as far as advancing competition and the telecommunications industry go, the privatization of Telstra was a failure.
If it had of been split into a separate wholesale and retail business, then the result would have been vastly different and there would never of been a need for the NBN.

The NBN allows for those that do not want the connection to opt out.
So for those who really believe they don't require the NBN, then they can contribute to reducing the cost of the NBN by opting out.
