Not in my experience. It's much easier to deceive when in a position of LOW authority. Those in high authority can intimidate and obfuscate in a general way, but there is no way a CEO can engineer the detailed deceptions that would be needed down at the "atomic level" of the books.

As for the need to drive the company past all this with the gas pedal fully depressed, absolutely. I think this has proven difficult to do with the situation in limbo, Esra Ogru not terminated, but merely suspended.

Perhaps it was the lawyers lack of confidence in the alleged facts that led to the "suspension". If the facts were hard, Esra should have and would have been fired outright. Failing that, this should never have been announced to the market at all, even if some uncorroborated surface level indication of wrongdoing surfaced.

I suspect that the lawyers were worried about a libel suit. Note that they have been very careful to avoid any direct accusation.

I'd be less worried about clawing back some mysterious funds that may have never existed in the first place than I would be about the liability for the damage all this has caused to Esra Ogru's reputation, perhaps without foundation.
