Just an example of the manipulation possible when you are a large institution(s) that can place large numbers of small dummy bids or a handfull of huge orders, (on the buy or sell side or both) knowing that they can never be bought or sold because they can remove them instantly.
We have seen quite alot of this lately with Lynas (I,m sure it goes on elsewhere but I dont track other stocks). Last week there were twin large buy or sell orders that stayed at or near the bottom of the que because I assume they can be removed and reinstated instantly and therefore always stay near or at the bottom. In theory anyone with a large holding could place large or multiple buy or sell orders but retail holders risk everything because HFTs can pull their dummy bids at the speed of light but us retail holders cannot. This gives them a huge advantage because they can exagerate the number and quantum of buy or sell orders. You can have over a million buy and sell orders facing off and then a 50000 order goes theogh and the price moves half a cent and the millions of orders simply dissappear literaly within a millisecond. This is what us retail shareholders/traders have to compete with............ and guess who wins every time!!!!!!!!!!! It is not enough that they can borrow or loan out shares that you own and sell them in order to destroy their value so thay can then buy them back cheaper and pocket the difference, they also have to have unfetted god like powers to manipulate how the market looks, with zero risk because they have access that you and I cannot have.
I am waiting for the day that real estate agents argue with a straight face that short selling of property should become legal because it would "provide more liquidity" in the property market. LOL ...........but its not funny.... didnt something like that (trading mortgage portfolios) trigger the GFC??????
Now where's that Royal Commission and those announcements from Lynas !!!!!!!
I'm feelling better now!
