This latest Roy Morgan poll may prove the high point in the wave of euphoria following Kevin Rudd's return to the role of PM; it may also flag a trend or a return to where the Rudd led ALP was in the polls back in June 2010.

It is a stunning result that commands our attention! What is even more staggering though is the data denial and cognitive dissonance at work on this thread.

Those welded onto Tony Abbott have never listened to those of us who detailed his modis operandi and his shortcomings. Now they've been caught with their pants down; circa Malcolm Fraser.

Abbott built his media persona around blaming, shaming and mud-chucking. He miserably failed the vision - policy - strategic implementation challenge that mainstream Australians so desperately seek from their polllies.

Rudd is now busy listening to and responding to the people; and going to great pains to deliver what they want: restoring civility and confidence, building working relationships between business and workers, affordable reinvigoration of public education and public health systems, addressing the ALP's leadership process and internal ALP politics, improving regional management of asylum seekers, reducing the cost of the CT/ETS, etc.

Rudd has bitten the explosive bullets and is therefore capturing our attention. He is publicly slaying the faceless monster of Labor's factions once and forever.

Meanwhile, Abbott cannot escape the gluepit of negativity he so artfully constructed. He is already looking like a blubbering, spineless loser of what should have been the most unlosable election campaign in our history.

Abbott's gelly-kneed, quivering lip refusal to publicly debate Rudd on the big issues of our time will recast him as the chicken man. Given his 4 long years of rabid attack dog performance he may well be on track to end as the least appealing Opposition Leader in our history.

Only data deniers could say "No!" to that.
