old saying - want to make a small fortune from farming - start off with a large one!!
somehow it reminds me of wcl!! for both shareholders and the company itself
i have been fortunate in offloading some of these at three main times - sol patts buying, takeover approach, and then post the discounted rights issue when the takeover was still bubbling!
having said that I am not a happy holder of what i have left
havent done the figures on how much they have ploughed into development, but i would guess their situation not much better than when molopo sold out- i.e. heaps to write off!!
you would think they would have learnt a bit more than they have really, as compared to other csg operators they are certainly not picking the sweet spots!!
Jake you talk of csg boom when pes taken over - well wcl had its opportunities- remember this was around a long time, with first reserves in 08 i believe, and some good joint venture territory with qgc!
I know i actually sold some qgc once to buy wcl, but to my uninformed self (esp back then), i thought pes and wcl had a lot of promise - thank god I had more pes!!
Probably biggest mistake was buying the leases off the chairman, and then not cutting their losses on a lot of unproductive wells! Anyway, easy in hindsight!
