    The Proposal

    Lynas Corporation has proposed to develop a pilot plant at the Research & Technology Development Centre, Bell Bay, to prove an electrolysis process and produce up to 100 tonnes per year of Didymium and Lanthanum metals for up to a three year period.

    The above proposal has been referred to the Board of the Environment Protection Authority (the Board) for assessment under the Environmental Management and Pollution Control Act 1994 (EMPC Act). An Environmental Effects Report (EER) has been lodged in support of the above proposal.

    Public Exhibition of Documentation

    A copy of the supporting documentation for the above proposal will be available for public inspection during the period specified below and may be examined during normal business hours at:

    Public Representations

    In accordance with s.57(5) of the Land Use Planning and Approvals Act 1993 (LUPA Act), any person may make a representation relating to the above proposal and the supporting documentation from Saturday 6 July 2013 to Saturday 3 Aug 2013 in writing to:

    Please note that representations may be publicly disclosed unless there is legitimate reason for confidentiality. If you would like your submission to remain confidential, please make a statement to that effect and indicate the basis for the request.

    Environmental Effects Report

    The purpose of the EER is to provide a source of information upon which interested individuals, groups, government agencies and the Board may consider the environmental and planning impacts of the proposal.

    The EER was prepared by the proponent on the basis of the project specific guidelines for preparation of an EER which were provided by the Board.
