Small hamlet 80 ks north-east of Melbourne - resident hitting the dsack at the end of the Tour de France - rest of household fast asleep. Other homes few and far between - on acreages.
HUGE sudden almighty explosive crash is heard - witness said it was exactly as if some huge object had flown in from space and crashed into the ground. Close by.
Seems the whole place too asleep, as Facebook enquiries within this small community turn up nothing untoward. All sayig they were fast asleep. No dogs barking. No lights. No car accidents. Nothing to see - or hear, after this initial mighty BANG! Which, it was said, was an enormously huge WHACK!
Not the first time these mysterious loud explosions have been reported around Melbourne recently - some listeners calling up TV news and radio news rooms, totally mystified, with very similar reports.
Anyone scientists on here know - do (small) earth tremors (say) sometimes cause such huge explosive crash noises? That's some people's explanations. IS there a natural phenonemen explanation? Or is someone (hate to think so) testing explosives, right out in the mulga? At 2.00am?
