    Good post cerhob.

When you read some of the nonsense posted by the usual suspects, you have to wonder if they conduct their own lives to the same standards of perfection they seem to expect from others.
It seems likely that many have little or no experience or understanding of the world ourside of whatever sheltered abode and walls they lock themselves in or behind.

Any leader must balance the multitude of complicated interests and reach compromises with the many stake-holders to get any of the constant stream of necessary adjustments and changes to the legal, political and economic environement through our government system, and must do so in a timely manner or risk being bogged down in meaningless circular debates designed to stall the process often for no other reason than for political gain.

By any reasonable standard, Howard and his team have done an outstanding job leading Australia through the recent turmoils of the last 10 years or so, many of which could have derailed us economically and potentially led to quite unpleasant social consequences.

You might not like every decision that he has made, but Howards place in history as one of our greatest leaders is well assured.

All those Howard-haters will end up doing what they always do, grit their teeth, complain to themselves and a few like-minded who might agree with them, and grudgingly accept that Howard has succeded again and our-manouvoured them with his realistic, pragamtic and sensible leadership style.
