When I checked with the manufacturer when buying a new laptop a few laptops ago, their service staff insisted that changing the partioning of the hard disk voided the warrantee...
Since it was as the time of VM introduction it was a simple choice to use a VM for the linux I wanted to install along side windows rather than worry a dual boot so I didnt worry about it...
But might be worth to check prior to deleting any partitions
