The most plausible explanation is simply that the share is unpopular. Sellers are more eager than buyers and the price falls. There really is no need for convoluted, dubious concepts to explain the sp fall.

I would suspect that margin calls would be a far more likely cause for pressure on the sp over the last month than complex shorting methods.
