You don't think that the Australian govt offering say $2B in foreign aid(i.e bribes) would make them think a little more. While it may be big business in Indonesia to smuggle people, I can't believe it's worth anything like $2B.

$2B to Indonesia saves Australia, what $4B a year(based on the current $6B per year its currently costing us - and I assume that figure doesn't include welfare payments) and will soon enough rid Indonesia of asylum seekers. It's win win for everyone other than the people smugglers, corrupt police/port officials and the economic migrants trying to con their way into Australia.
