As I recall AVB was intending to pay a further $350,000 to Lara in November for 100% of Conceição, so terminating the earn-in option I gather means they walk away from that? I had always subtracted that (pre-committed) amount from their cash balance to come up with free-cash, but now that just puts more available funds back in kitty. On balance I am personally pleased with that decision. I guess sometimes you just have to walk away and Conceicao was not a core activity, plus it didn't produce any results of note.

It always troubled me, so good AVB decision IMO, even if a tough and belated call to make.

Makes one wonder about what is happening to Touro as well.

How prospective it really is.

Looking forward to Quarterly to see cash balance and see how much is spent and budgeted for on-going exploration. The days of posters anxiously awaiting the next set of drill results seem to have gone.

Overall the Conceicao Decision is in line with what seems to be some Corporate Direction changes for AVB. Looks like the Directors have met and mapped out where they want AVB to be in the next few years. (Pottering around Conceicao was obviously not part of that vision.)

Although it is a small part of the picture, I hope that there is no future plan to channel AVB funds into supporting VOR's disasterous Mongolian adventure. Pictures on the VOR website show a total moonscape. Dreadful place. 50,000m drilling for very little. The only interesting spot is the PUB, I presume the pagoda-style building with the infinite car-park around it? Time will tell.

Just love that AVB profit upgrade due to currency changes. Recalculated... A$53.9m to A$62.8m. p.a. Amazing. And more to come too I suspect...

Mine finance announcement maybe 2 - 5 months away? Lots to do in the meantime, so I would think that in effect no time is being lost. Plenty of planning, drawing and specs to be written... plus contract-tender documents to be prepared.
