Why should the election result send shock waves through the "Noalition".
Make of it what you will mmartin, but the ALP needs to pick up seats at this election to actually win. Hard task.
The ALP has spent the best part of the last 3 years attacking themselves and now supposedly everything is now ok. Sadly the Gillard Government, despite some good work on education and funding for the disabled, went on a huge spending spree..despite promises of a surplus budget...Also lets all forget the carbon tax lie...
As for border protection, everyone in the ALP criticised Howard but now even they have moved to the right in relation to this issue. I personally would welcome a more sympathetic position on border protection but thats just one view.
If Turnbull were opposition leader, no one would be even remotely talking about a possible ALP win.
The election is for Abbott to loose..Lets face it he's hardly a popular politician.
By the way I'm a swinging voter who has backed both the main political parties in the past.
E.G. I voted for Beasley in 1998 and 2001, Howard in 2004, Rudd in 2007, Abbott in 2010 (I didn't like how Rudd had been removed as leader). I'm a small "l" liberal in terms of philosophy.
