Economically it is terrible because of the waste of capital expended on building the city. The county's population has continued to grow, so all those who have left have got work in different places and had to expend fresh capital for housing and infrastructure. It would have been far better if the jobs could have been attracted to Detroit, rather than the people going to the jobs.
And in China, market forces are at work there too. All the apartments are sold to investors ..... 80m empty apartments bought solely for capital gains and still building ..... nothing could possibly go wrong, could it?
