The next sitting date for parliament doesnt have to be until next year.
From the Constitution;
6. There shall be a session of the Parliament once at least in every year, so that twelve months shall not intervene between the last sitting of the Parliament in one session and its first sitting in the next session.
Rudd can go back on any agreement that LNP & Labor might have had about sitting times.
He can last until the end of November when the election must be held, and not have to turn up in Parliament at all.
All completely within the rules, and all completely rotten if you ask me.
