Tinnitus, Like you I was unimpressed. Organisation structure is an important enabler but not decisive.
I think both the parties should stop the politics. It was political wedging that created this problem. Trying to be more humane than the next guy became fatal.
Both parties are hung up on historical baggage. It needs a bi partisan approach, I think we are slowly getting there. Lets forget the past and agree;
1) No residency for boatpeople. 2) Temporary accommodation should be Spartan but safe. 3) Once these are agreed there is no need for offshore processing to circumvent our own laws, nor TPVs, nor turn backs. 4) Australia should handle its own problems.
