Well that's classic diligent.
Firstly Howard did not make turning around boats work as he only ever succeeded in turning around four boats, and that was before they discovered that if their boat sank the Australian Navy would rescue them. So ideas like Tony's tow'em back are dead in the water today.
Secondly it was the Howard government who supplied the most ever aid to Indonesia not this Labor government. However I do agree that in return for the aid they get Indonesia should try to stop the boats leaving. The problem for Indonesia is that they don't want the asylum seekers either so it suits them to let them leave.
