I am so glad you are aware of the history of 'our' interventions in the middle east and have the courage to post on here. Initially Johnny Howard was so in love with George Bush, he had to pander to him and support him, every which way.

I won't say any more, except I have a lot of Liberal friends and our friendships are still strong, but I say what I think to them, but it does not shift their stance, so its probably pointless to have a discussion on here.

We have a problem which is essentially like the story of the sorcerer's apprentice. We caused the problem and now we and the rest of the world are overwhelmed with the consequences; i.e. refugees.

To be fair: if we were not so beholden to the motor car in its present form (petrol), we would most likely not be in this position, so essentially each and every one of us is in some small degree responsible for what happened in the middle east; hence we need to find a humane solution.

It is also a great pity that the subject of the 'boat people' has come to be a domestic showdown between our major parties, as if Australia and the world at large didn't have worse problems to solve. But, of course, those problems are also polarised in the local debate to become political points of view. P A T H E T I C !!

    Cheers
