Throughout history a select few leaders have employed military intervention into such matters. We can see this today in countries including Egypt and Fiji and of course in the 1930s with Nazi Germany.
Military interventions are an absolute last resort for democratic nations since they characterise the death knell of those democratic systems.
People should be deeply concerned that Tony Abbott was part of a government that committed Australia to illegal overseas military interventions, to the ill-conceived military intervention into aboriginal communities and is now using it as a strategy of first resort should he be elected PM.
Well I will not be one of the people who applauds as Abbott's demonization of desperate and vulnerable asylum seekers progresses into his abuse of political power.
